Digital Point DoS

Digital Point DoS

Originally uploaded by ayrshire_web_design

Digital Point receive a DoS attack.

Eairly today I had a kid who is well known in the black hatting scene tell me that he had taken down the large web master forum Digital Point. With a near enough 10,000 populated botnet with would have been an easy process for him, just typing in a command on his IRC server which the bots (infected computers) would read the command and take action on it. He explained that the attack is a simple HTTP flood styled attack. This is what vBullitein lacks in there exsistance is floods like this. Because the index is a php file, its requesting information from a database every time its loaded, now lets say 10,000 bots, each one loading the page in the background about 5-6 times a second. The database is going to die!

I have yet to hear more information on this to find out wither there was a reason behind it or just some kiddy fun.
